Relationship rituals

In this Twoology video, relationship expert, Allen Berger, Ph.D., believes rituals are a fantastic thing to engage you in a relationship. They make it a routine of having meaningful experiences. I believe in creating these traditions and these rituals in your life together so that you can really add to the texture of your experience.

How can rituals help your relationship?  Should we develop some traditions or some rituals for our family?  And, if so, are they important?  Obviously, I think that each of you have to decide that together.  But here are a few thoughts about it.

Oftentimes, these traditions and rituals can be a way of doing something automatically that signifies the kind of connection and commitment you have to each other. For example, one of the traditions in our life is having people over for the Super Bowl party and sharing that with friends and families. It’s something that we look forward to together that we do. I get to cook my meatballs and share them with people.  It’s a creation that we have.

So I believe in creating these traditions and these rituals in your life together so that you can really add to the texture of your experience.

Rituals are a fantastic thing to engage the two of you in a relationship. They make it a routine of having meaningful experiences. I believe in creating these traditions and these rituals in your life together so that you can really add to the texture of your experience. Partaking in deliberate marriage rituals are significant routines for couples and they benefit couples.
