More attention from mate

In this Twoology video, relationship expert, Allen Berger, Ph.D., says it is vital for you to do some self reflection if you want your mate to pay more attention to you. I would recommend that you do is to ask yourself, what’s really going on?  For example, are you interesting?

How can I get my mate to pay more attention to me?  If you are feeling neglected in your relationship and you want your partner to be more connected and more engaged, the first thing that I would recommend that you do is to ask yourself, what’s going on?  Are you interesting?

See, a lot of people don’t understand that just because you’re married, in a committed relationship–that doesn’t mean that your partner, therefore, will always be engaged with you. You may be boring.   Now, that may be tough for you to look at, that you’re boring or you may not be a lot of fun.  But, maybe you are, and you need to change that.

A lot of times, couples talk to me about sex, and they’re not having great sex.  And one of the questions that I ask them:  “Is the sex you’re having worth having?”  See, it goes to that issue. You need to take responsibility for who you are.  If you want to engage with your partner, then are you bringing something to them that’s worth engaging in?  If you’re having trouble with that, talk to your partner about that, too.

So take a look at yourself. Take a look at who you are.  Get real and honest with yourself.  I always say, “To make a relationship work, you have to add more of yourself, not less, to the relationship.

If you are feeling neglected in your relationship and you want your partner to be more connected and more engaged, the first thing that I would recommend that you do is to ask yourself, what’s going on?  Are you interesting? Are you doing things worth giving attention to? Are you pleasant to be around?
