Different emotional styles
One of the biggest challenges that couples face in general is coming to terms with each others’ differences. And these differences are very common in terms of how people process, feel, and express their emotions. It’s important to understand that we’re all different in that regard, and, rather than wanting your partner to be the way you want them to be or to be like you or the way you think they ought to be or think they should be–you will be working on coming to terms with accepting who they are and that there are going to be differences.
Once you can accept that there are differences, you are half way there in terms of being more understanding or more understood. The challenge of understanding is going to be diminished as your acceptance of differences increases.
